Art Born from Louisville
Raised in a family with deep Louisville roots and a strong military tradition, Brian Lee Estill was born in Heidelberg, Germany, but Louisville, Kentucky has always been home. He graduated from Atherton High School in 1994, then served proudly in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Brian discovered his craft long before his service—working in the masonry trade since high school. Drawn to the ancient traditions of stonework, and influenced by a city full of brickwork, he found expression in the art of masonry.
In 2009, after a painful divorce, Brian began creating story-poems alongside his mosaics from reclaimed elements in his cousin’s garage. What started as simple art therapy quickly grew into a powerful creative outlet, blending masonry, poetry, and personal history. His work honors the neighborhoods that shaped him and the city whose spirit still roars through every line.
